PARTIAL CANCELLATION OF TRAINS ON 14.12.2019:
1.12278/12277 Puri-Howrah-Puri Shatabdi Express will run between Puri and Kharagpur and will remain cancelled between Kharagpur and Howrah from both the directions.
2.12074/12073 Bhubaneswar-Howrah-Bhubaneswar Jan Shatabdi Express will run between Bhubaneswar and Mechheda and will remain cancelled between Mechheda and Howrah from both the directions.

Two trains, Intercity Express and MMTS, collide. InterCity Express was in a fixed position when MMTS came and collide. The reason for this sad incident is said to be due to the failure in noticing signals, leading two trains on the same track line.

People will have to extra rent for this. A fixed security fund is required to be deposited in the account of the railway, which gets back later. Additional charges include GST and other taxes. If the program is cancelled, the payment is paid back after deducting the fixed tax.
The coaches installed on the train including air-conditioned first class, second AC, third AC, AC Chairkers, executive chairmakers, sleeper, painter, parcel van etc.
For booking a coach, Rs. 9 lakh will be charged for the full train of Rs. 50 thousand and 18 coaches. If the train is booked after one week, then every additional ten thousand rupees per coach to be given.

Indian Railways is thinking the idea of buying readymade trains from private players rather of making them at production units.
"Just to rewind back In 2017 , Suresh Prabhu-led Indian Railways flags first 'Make in India' EMU rake for suburban travel on Western Railways! The rake was been manufactured by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) Chennai and the propulsion system is indigenous. Earlier EMUs of Indian Railways have systems from either Bombardier or Siemens.
The manufacturing cost of these rakes is also said to be lower because of this reason. "
At a high-level meeting held in New Delhi recently, the idea of obtaining Trainsets, Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) and Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) from the industry was raised.
It was concluded that a considered view should be taken on the acquisition of complete train sets from the private instead of procuring of equipment and manufacture of car body and fitting the same in production units.
The progress follows a line over India’s first semi-high-speed Train 18 or Vande Bharat Express and the decision to stop production of the train at the ICF here for a variety of reasons.
While buying of rakes is going to cost higher than self-manufacturing, employees reacted that the move would render thousands of railway employees in production and ancillary units jobless in the long run.
A man died after his hand got held among the doors of a metro train that was leaving the Park Street metro station in Kolkata on Saturday.
Around 6.40 pm, 66-year-old Sajal Kumar Kanjilal was boarding a crowded Kabi Subhash-bound train from the Park Street Metro station when the doors of the third compartment closed with his hand inside. The train dragged Kanjilal as it left for the next station, Maidan.
After driving for a few seconds, the train was brought to a halt. Its power supply switched off and the passengers were evacuated, a Metro Railway spokesperson said.
Kolkata Metro authorities have ordered a high-level inquiry into the incident.
Around 2.5 million litres of water was transported from Jolarpet to Chennai in a 5-wagon train on Friday.

The Indian Railways will depend heavily on public-private partnership (PPP) projects for growth despite its past record of slow pace in attracting investors.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman pointed out sectors for PPP projects that were not open earlier. Private investments are being pushed thanks to the Rs 50-trillion investment required between 2018 and 2030, which the government would find difficult to generate by itself.
The budget signals welcoming PPP back, categorically in three sectors, namely roads, rail and metro. In railways, PPP is going to be warmly welcomed across segments such as railway electrification, rolling stock, track renewal, container trains and high-speed passenger trains
A senior Railway Ministry official said that 53 types of concessions are currently given in the mail-express train including Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto. These include patients suffering from a serious illness such as elderly, women, cancer, heart, kidney, and not limited to sportsmen, widows, students, youth, artists and award winners. Cancer patients get free travel in AC-3 while Assistant receives 75 per cent Recovery in sleeper. Most concessions range between 75 to 50 per cent and 40 per cent in different categories.
The basic questions come in our mind, what will happen to all the concessions provided by the Railways on the train and will the fare be hiked ?
We need to wait and see how this model is going to work.
